Gabon, a country along the Atlantic coast of Equatorial Africa, has protected parkland that makes up more than 10% of its area. The forested coastal terrain of its famed Loango National Park shelters a diversity of wildlife from gorillas and hippos to whales. Lopé National Park consists of mostly rainforest. Akanda Park is known for its mangroves and tidal beaches.

Miss Gabon Beauty Pagent

Gabon has participated at International beauty pageants since 2009. The Miss Gabon national pageant was established since 2001.

In 2012 the Miss Gabon Organization became the National Franchise Holder for Miss Universe pageant. Leila Lopes, Miss Universe 2011 was invited to be a judge at the Miss Gabon 2012 pageant.

In 2013 the reigning Miss Supranational 2011, Mutya Johanna Datul was invited to be special guest at the 2014 Miss Gabon pageant.

In 2014 for the first time, the reigning Miss Gabon 2014, Magalie Nguema was competed at the three important pageants. She was crowned as the 2nd Runner-up at the Miss Supranational 2014 in Poland, participated at the Miss International 2014 in Japan and lastly represented Gabon at the Miss Universe 2014 in the United States.

Nowadays, Miss Gabon winner automatically will represent Gabon at the Miss Universe pageant. Meanwhile, the Runner-ups will compete at the Miss World, Miss Earth, Miss International and Miss Supranational pageants.
